AT Proto Projects
I had been waiting for decentralized platforms for a long time, and they arrived right when LLMs started getting better at coding. That timing changed a lot for me.
Building simple things on AT Proto pushed me to understand what interoperability actually means. It is not like signing in with Google or Microsoft. Every problem along the way moved me further.
I mostly build simple clients on top of Bluesky, but one day I want to create a full app too. I launched my blog on AT Protocol as a starting point to see how far things can go. All of this without any prior coding knowledge. I built on ideas, ideas gave me knowledge, and I just kept repeating that process.
Note Apps
Before the vibe coding era, I used to design note-taking applications. I never quite knew why, but I think it was because I needed specific solutions for specific problems. There were many options available, but detailed needs meant all you could really do was leave feedback and wait. That was limiting.
Once I had the essentials to build my own things, I started creating versions of note-taking experiences one after another. I would build something, use it for a few weeks, discover a new need, and then start over. That cycle kept going.
- A simple writing application with insights, and a not-so-private diary experience in the browser using local storage
- A locally hosted open-source journal with insights, and a note-taking application with basic Markdown support
- A quick Markdown opener and editor in the browser for README and similar use cases, and a code stashing experience for temporarily saving snippets
- And finally, a knowledge base application.
